This comprehensive 11-week induction programme is designed to support new Teaching Assistants (TAs) working in both primary and secondary settings. Delivered through weekly sessions, the programme builds essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure TAs are well-equipped to support both students and teachers effectively.
Programme Objectives:
To provide a structured and supportive introduction to the TA role.
To develop confidence, capability, and professional identity in the classroom.
To ensure consistency and high standards across school support staff.
Key Topics Include:
How Students Learn: An introduction to learning theory and developmental stages.
Behaviour Management: Strategies for supporting positive behaviour in the classroom.
Phonics and Literacy Support: Practical guidance on supporting early reading skills.
Supporting Numeracy: Techniques to help students access and engage with mathematical learning.
Programme Features:
Weekly Sessions: Face to face, interactive training led by experienced facilitators.
Recorded Access: All sessions are recorded (retrospectively) and accompanied by supporting materials, allowing participants to revisit content throughout the year.
Collaborative Learning Environment: TAs join from a wide range of schools, enabling the sharing of good practice and peer learning.
By the end of the programme, we aim to ensure participants feel confident, knowledgeable, and empowered in their role, ready to make a meaningful impact in the classroom.
