The Dorset SEN Dance Festival 2026 Film:

Our second Dorset SEN Dance Festival was an incredible celebration of creativity, movement and inclusion, bringing together over 400 young people with SEN from 11 schools across Dorset. Featuring Victoria School, Springwood Campus, Linwood School, Woodford School, Littlewood Campus, Langside School, The Forum School, Mountjoy School, Beaucroft School, White House School and Winchelsea School. The Dorset SEN Dance Festival 2025 Film:

A huge thank you to the incredible students and staff from Iford Academy, Victoria School (Shaftesbury), Springwood School, Linwood School, Langside School, Littlewood School. You all made this project and film truly special. Find out more about the 2025 festival here.

The intention of the festival is:

  • Engage students within SEN schools across Dorset in dance, providing an accessible, exciting, and creative outlet for self-expression. resulting in a collaborative dance film that captures and shares their achievements.

  • Build confidence and offer new experiences, championing the importance of inclusive representation for young people and their families.

  • Provide ongoing professional development for teachers, equipping them with practical tools and strategies to effectively deliver and integrate dance within SEN education.

  • Encourage the continuation of dance activities beyond the project, supporting schools to develop sustainable, long-term approaches to maintaining and expanding dance opportunities for their students.

The festival is designed to celebrate the creativity and freedom that dance and movement can bring to everybody. To support this, we encourage all kinds of performances; sensory, supported, choreographed, whichever approach works best for your learners.(Required)
Based on the SEND Code of Practice, please indicate the needs of the students who you think would be most likely to take part in the festival? (This list is not exhaustive, please use the ‘Other’ option if you would prefer to describe your learners’ needs).

Our objectives are to build confidence, provide new experiences, create opportunities, and celebrate the achievements of SEN learners across Dorset. The festival aims to introduce, explore, create and showcase inclusive dance, while also offering continued professional development for school teachers on the delivery and implementation of dance in SEN settings.
The outcome of the Dorset SEN Dance Festival will be presented as a collaborative dance film, which each participating school will have access to and can share within their school community. To ensure all students can be included safely and appropriately, your school will need to obtain consent for video and photography.(Required)
