Dorset SEN Dance Festival 2025

The intention of the festival is:

  • Explore and engage with the theme of “Intergalactic” through dance, providing students with an exciting, creative outlet for self-expression.

  • Build confidence, offer new experiences, and create performance opportunities, while celebrating the achievements of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across the Dorset area.

  • Provide ongoing professional development for school teachers, equipping them with the tools and strategies to effectively deliver and integrate dance in SEN education.

  • Encourage the continuation of dance activities beyond the project, helping schools develop sustainable ways to maintain and grow dance initiatives after the project concludes.

The festival is designed to celebrate the creativity and freedom that dance and movement can bring to everybody. To support this, we encourage all kinds of performances; sensory, supported, choreographed, whichever approach works best for your learners.

We want the process to be as straight forward for your school as possible, there is no right or wrong way to take part in the festival. The message is to remove the preconceptions and limitations of what dance is, and remember that creativity and expression has no limits! The end product of the workshops will be a Collaborative Film, featuring contributions from all participating SEN schools to create one unified celebration of movement and expression.

Dorset SEN Dance Festival Workshop

This form is for those who have enrolled in the Dorset SEN Dance Festival to register their school for a workshop with Christina

Please note TWO workshops are required for this project. Select TWO dates that work best for your school, please pay attention to the AM & PM options, if your school has multiple classes involved in the project and you require a whole day, please select both AM and PM. If none of the above dates work please email Christina directly.
